THE CHRONICLES OF FRIENDSHIP

Today’s blog is dedicated to friendship.

We meet so many people every year, some of whom become such good friends that we trust and love them unconditionally. We make some friends as children and then sometimes loose communication with them as we grow older. Then we make other friends as adults and stay in touch with them as long as we are in close proximity to, and it is convenient to stay in touch but then with time, life happens and it slowly pulls us apart and again, we start losing contact with them. But then there are some people we call “true friends”. They are the people we care about irrespective of the situation, love them no matter how annoying they are, join them in all sorts of amazing and mad adventures of life, talk to them about everything without the fear of judgement and most importantly understand and respect them. A bond like this will never get affected by any kind of distance or lack of conversation, because these are our true friends.

Without our best friends, I do not think we would have gotten through all the disasters, mistakes, or screw ups in life. There must have been so many times where you wouldn’t have known there was light at the end of the tunnel if they were not on the other end of the phone. There are a few people in our life who stick by our side throughout without any judgements. A best friend doesn’t share your DNA, your family, or even agree with you in several situations. But a best friend is your blanket, your shield, and eventually your mirror for the good, the bad, the beautiful, the ugly, and all those complicated grey areas in between.

So now I have put together a few ‘Positive Friendship’ points which I personally believe in, and every person should keep in mind irrespective of their age or gender

  1. TAKE OUT TIME

We exist in a world where information + updates about life are at our fingertips, but do not let the pretence of social media be an excuse or a reason to not reach out. I have realized that a simple phone call or an unplanned lunch/dinner date is so much more effective. The bottom line – making the effort to connect shows how much you care.

2. ACCEPT AND LOVE THE PEOPLE WHO THEY LOVE

When it comes to having a genuine friendship, it is so vital to love who your person loves.  With each of my best friends, I try to get along with their family, partner, or their other friends. It’s a package deal. When it comes to those friends I am so invested in, I want every part of them from the good and the easy, to the messy and the imperfect. With that comes a strong loyalty to love who they love. When it is genuine, it’s easy-going. It strengthens your bond in an entirely new manner and establishes this beautiful, vulnerable extended family.

3. INSECURITY SHOULD NEVER COME IN THE WAY OF FRIENDSHIP.

While we are being totally transparent, I have understood that judgment, competition, jealousy, and little mistruths have no spot in a bond like friendship or any relationship for that matter. All these things usually come down to insecurity. When you honestly want what’s best for someone, all those noxious emotions are replaced with selfless love. Judgement transforms into understanding, competition fully disappears, jealously turns into things you are permitted to say out loud, and mistruths aren’t given a second thought.

4. DON’T FORCE IT

You should never force things. What flows, flows and what crashes, crashes. Devote your energy for things that are meant for you. When it comes to friendship, you know without a doubt who your soul connects with. From my past experiences I have realized that just because you have history together, does not mean you are bound to have a future with them. There are already too many difficulties in life as it is, don’t let your friendships be one of them. Just know when to take a deep breath and let it go because sometimes the lesson to be learned is in the inevitable truth. Also, know when to fight like hell for someone who you can’t imagine your life without.

5. BE PRESENT FOR THE IN-BETWEEN.

Most days, life is full of happiness and popping a bottle of beer, or in my case fruit beer haha! Endless laughter and sweet conversations. And on other days, I can’t even function properly. And in both these situations you need those friends who will leave everything and come running when you need them to, laugh and cry with you. They are not there with you only for the big things, they’re there when you can’t get out of bed. They love you at your best and at worst. From the life changing days to the small, nameless moments. That type of connection creates a bond that is hooked for forever.

Friends are the most incredible people in our life. Sometimes we forget how happy they make us and trust me, if you keep in mind these basic points, the friendship bond is going to be unbreakable and stronger than ever. So, now I would like to say a few words for some of my close friends who mean the world to me.

I will begin with my school friends. The first friend of my life was Tanya, she has been by my side since we were small kids and we have been together since the past 20 years. From having the same school, cab, college, career path to enjoying our teenage as well as adulthood life, we have seen it all. After that, from the past 13 years, there are these two girls who never leave my side irrespective of the situation. Alisha and Sakshi are the ones who are my bundle of happiness, not just in school but even till today. I know for a fact that whenever I would need them, they wouldn’t think twice before leaving all their work and come running just to be with me. And that is how a friendship strengthens and lasts forever.

Moving on to my college life, Rashika and Umang, my OG babies. My college life would have been a disaster without them. From having fun in college, exploring new things and places, endless conversations to sticking by each other’s side during happy and difficult days, our bond has become inseparable. Along with that are two more people who made my college and cab life bearable. Although I met Khushi and Harshit a little late, but I am glad I did. With Khushi my bond has always been so cheerful and full of positivity, there is never a dull moment when I am with this girl. On the other hand, Harshit is that one guy best friend in my life with whom I am so comfortable, I can be myself and share literally anything without the fear of judgement. Both of them are way too important for me.

Let’s talk about my other friends, some of whom I have already met and some of them are yet to meet me in person.

When I met Vaishali, something connected, yes, we are Cancerian twins and that’s how our energies matched right from the day we met. She has seen me laughing, crying, doing all sorts of funny and mad things and still chose to be by my side always. Chirag is my Chiggy Boi who can make me laugh anytime, anywhere. Naynika and Supreet are the people who make me happy irrespective we talk or have conversations on a regular basis. The memories I have created with all four of them are so precious and I will make sure we continue doing that.

I have these two very cute people who are absolutely crazy, just like me of course. From sharing my secrets to gossiping, from discussing life problems to analyzing ghost stories, Ateedeep is an all-rounder friend and having a person like him is a blessing. On the other hand, Sunanda is the most loveable and the funniest person I know. Her laugh is so contagious that even if you are a having a bad day, the sound of her laughing can make you smile in a jiffy.

There are a few people who I haven’t met yet but hold a very important place in my life. Rohitash is one of the sweetest friend I have but can be mean sometimes when he conspires to steal my pao bhaji haha! There is always this positivity whenever I talk to him. Anushka is my mini-Google. We stay miles apart, in different countries but the bond is unbreakable. And there are so many more people, the list is huge.

In the end don’t forget to count your mommy because out of everyone, she is your biggest, honest, and the most genuine best friend ever.

This was a small loving gesture for my best friends on the occasion of Friendship Day because at the end of the day what matters is, to be able to feel that warm amazing feeling with the people you love. Friendship is magical, and yes, it can also hurt you sometimes. I have lost contact with a few friends in the past one year, but now I don’t regret that because probably I was not meant to be with them and the people who are with me today are, all I need to make me happy. Always remember quality over quantity.

Happy Friendship Day Folks. xoxo

Love, KG

Friendship is one of the greatest bonds anyone can wish for. As Elbert Hubbard said : A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you. This says all about the warm smug relationship friends share

The first friendship bond we build in life is definitely with parents; a friendship built on trust and open communication- paving the way for other friends to step in our life.

Pray you do well in all your endeavours and our bond of friendship remains strong forever !
    Love you loads !
